CESTA makes the case for traditional handmade Portuguese reed baskets. These beautiful baskets have been used by Portuguese women for shopping and carrying things ever since we can remember. They exist in all colours and designs imaginable and are part of our cultural heritage. 100% made with natural fibres; 100% handmade, from picking up, drying and dyeing the reed, to weaving it and sewing the basket.

CESTA adapts them for new functionalities, prepares them for contemporary life.

These “Maker” model baskets by CESTA have been designed specially for knitters.  They are lined with burel, a traditional woven wool fabric, complete with dividers, pockets, and grommets for keeping your yarn tidy.  Please note that lining fabric colours may vary from photo.
